You are here:

Hello all,

Hope you are all well, with a strong chance the dreadful virus is all over we will have a spring back in the step.

The Snooker section are conducting their Handicap Drawn Pairs with a very even Field of 12 players. We are at the Semi-final stage, so the results will be in our next issue. In three weeks’ time, the section has three teams entered in interclub Snooker.

The room at Holt Place is open seven days a week from 10am till 10pm and the cost of a visit is only $2. Cheap as.

The Pool Section AGM is being held on Monday 6 July at 6pm. This is open to all section members so please come along to have your input.

Now that we are in level 1, our interclub season is about to start on the Tuesday 7 (Prems & Div 1) and Wednesday 8 July (Div 2 & 3). We will only be playing one round this year because of the lockdown, and there will be no promotion / delegation with teams this year.

At this stage, Finals Day is planned for Woolston.

Well what do we say about fishing in lockdown? Actually, not a lot. I think most of us just hunkered down, accepted it, and dreamed of fish that were happy swimming around growing fatter and thus easier for us to catch once we were unshackled.

A couple of brave (or mad) members went down to Lake Benmore and tried the canals and Ohau, but with conditions below freezing and the fish still mostly in hibernation, not a lot of success was had.

Hello everybody,

Well things are very close to normal now and with the shortest day now passed, psychologically we can feel like things are on the up, even though we have some rough weather to come.

Hello, welcome to all members.

Hope you all managed to get through the past few months safely. It is great to finally be able to resume some normality back in our Club and our section.

We started our first Thursday night Euchre night on 18 June. We had 28 players, which was awesome to see, especially as it was the first night and a cold day. We are starting our Thursday nights at an earlier time of 7pm from now on, playing our usual 12 games, which allows us to finish just prior to 9.30pm.

It’s been a trying time for everyone since we stopped playing darts in late March, but there have been many players in lockdown practising so the standard will be high on our return. Some of our team have been playing online, with their phones set up to play, with video, against another lockdown opponent from around NZ.

Indoor Bowls

The indoor bowls section will be recommencing playing bowls on Monday 6 July at 7.30pm.

Our playing venue will be The Avonhead Primary School (55 Avonhead Road), as we are unable to use the sports hall from end of June. We will be playing social bowls every second week and will arrange visits to other Clubs over the remainder of this season.

Emails will be sent to all members advising the above details.

Outdoor Bowls

I hope everybody has been keeping safe and now that the  restrictions have moved to Alert Level 2 we can get back to finishing  the bowls season with our game on 31 May. Strict distancing and sanitizing rules will apply, so please follow the instructions below so  we can enjoy Bowls again.
